I was asked by several readers about the advantages a US passport holder would have in Dubai as compared to someone from Asia or Africa etc.
Before I start, this is true for not only US passport holders, but also for many other western countries like Canada, UK, many European countries, as well as Australia.
Here is what I can think of at the moment, although I am sure there is more that I missed out.
* Higher pay scale
* Positions in the higher management
* UAE driver’s license in 5 minutes (which takes 3 months for everyone else)
* More respect from authorities
Before you scream discrimination, I suggest you go through world history in detail. Americans have the right to enjoy these luxuries because they earned it. They don’t have a negative reputation and are generally trustworthy. The same can’t be said for countries whose people don’t have the above rights.
For nations who don’t have such privileges (that includes me as well), I feel sorry for them but it’s a fact that not all fingers in the hand are equal. Come to terms with it as soon as possible and strive to be the middle finger.

Yes,Its just a sad truth. I just couldn’t hold my laugh on your comment “strive to be the middle finger” reminded me Bevis and butt head.
Well Umar how about Pakistanis/Indians or other “brown” races who have American/Canadian or other such passports? Would they have an advantage over others just because of their passports?
Sarah » Yes they get the same facilities as well… I know a few people who are pakistani origin but have us citizenship and are as privileged.
