I dined at two different restaurants over the weekend.
One thing that was common in both places was that they charged 10% on top of the bill amount under services charges.
10% service charges? WTF???
So their food cost does not include anything else? Then why is the food so expensive?
And then are we supposed to tip the waiter as well after paying the services charges?
And why does the service suck if they are charging for it?
Can I get a refund if I didn’t like the service?
Man, I am too confused.

hahah, and did u notice it’s mentioned on the corner of teh menu just like back in Pakistan they write hidden charges:P
You are not supposed to tip if they automatically charge you service charge, that is in fact a forced tip. 10% is actually not bad, here in US, they charge like 18% for that at some places and now acceptable minimum tip is 15% and some times 20%.
Last week on way to airport, I had lunch with my family at the Noodle House in Dubai Marina (www.thenoodlehouse.com). I was really good.
yup i agree with Abdullah- basically the same situation in the UK…can be realli frustrating when you’ve gone for an up-market meal
