Ride the Future with Toyota i-ROAD
We have reached an era when the dependence on transport system is unavoidable. Almost all of us commute in a private car, taxi or bus. But a side effect of this is that cities are congested with traffic, parking is a nightmare and air pollution is the norm. So even though the original purpose of having a car is to save time, we end up wasting more time in traffic congestion, not to mention the waste of money in burning of all the fuel as a result of a traffic congestion.
Automotive companies are working hard to come up with solutions to above issues, and Toyota is one of them.
Say hello to Toyota i-Road
i-Road is the new ultra compact three-wheeler EV by Toyota. The vehicle is currently being tested in Japan and also it’s testing is scheduled to start in France at the end of 2014.
At the surface it might look just another compact car powered by an electric motor, but actually Toyota is not just working on the car, in fact, an entirely new concept is being implemented in which public and private transport systems will be linked with a common network, along with your home. This will enable people to commute in the most efficient possible way by taking advantage of the information available from the network. i-Road is a part of this advanced network aimed at making the lives of people easier.
For example, on a given day, the network might inform you that the best way to commute to work is through the train because of a traffic congestion through the road, or a combination of private car, train, and i-Road. This will help you avoid the delay as well as help ease the existing congestion by redirecting the traffic to other routes.
I believe this is truly a glimpse into the future. With the recent penetration of smartphones, everyone is already connected to the internet. So companies like Toyota have the resources to gather data about the traffic concentration and trends. And with the advent of “internet of things”, more and more devices are connecting to the internet, including vehicles like cars, buses and trains. So very soon we will have a truly connected transport system that we can fully trust to guide us to our destination in the most efficient manner.
Traffic congestion and its effect on the environment as we know it will soon be history, and our kids will live in a world which is truly fast and convenient.
