Here are the results of my last week’s poll: How often do you go for vacations.
How often do you take a vacation
- Once in six months (43%, 6 Votes)
- Once a year (43%, 6 Votes)
- Haven’t taken a vacation for two years (14%, 2 Votes)
- Once a month (0%, 0 Votes)
- Once in two years (0%, 0 Votes)
Total Voters: 14
Out of 14 readers who voted, 12 (86%) of them take a vacation once or twice a year. The remaining two (14%) haven’t taken a vacation in more than two years. I take they don’t go to vacations.
In my opinion, taking some time off from work and relaxing and enjoying yourself proves to be good for your professional and personal life. If you kept working for years and years without any relaxation, you will wear yourself out more quickly. Even machines need to be shut down for cooling after certain duration of constant operation. Unless you enjoy your job so much that being out of office depresses you, a vacation once in a while is must.
The only question of how often a vacation should be taken is something that one has to decide after evaluation their circumstances. I recommend once a year. Most employers allow yearly vacations so it’s a good idea to use that facility.
You can do whatever strikes your fancy during your vacation time: Work on a project, visit a resort, go on a road trip, or just relax at home, anything that recharges your battery and pumps you up to get back to work.
So if you are one of those who didn’t take a vacation for more than two years, here is my advise to you: Dude, take some time off before you get too old. There is more to life than work, work, and work. Just explore the world and see what it is made of.
