The laptop has arrived. It’s a bit heavier than I thought. I’ll be needing a backpack to carry it along with my other stuff, including my camera. The bag I got few days ago is too small and too heavy. I installed OpenOffice.org and am planning to use that instead of MS Office as much as possible. I am also planning to keep a knoppix cd with me all the time (instead of installing a linux distribution) and use it whenever possible. For browsing/emailing, I am going to use mozilla firebird/thunderbird. The battery life is amazing. If used normally, the laptop can last over 3 hours on battery.

If you intend to use the machine for development stuff, consider adding cygwin to the mix. I find the tools like grep, sed, awk and perl indispensible.
