Jis rizq say aati ho parvaaz main kotahi

I have been trying to figure out why do I feel extremely sleepy after lunch. I used to think it only happens when I eat rice, ie biryani, for lunch. So I started to avoid biryani and started stuffing myself with burgers or chicken rolls or whatever I could find other than biryani. It worked for a while, maybe it was psychological, but after some time the lethargic feeling came back. I know there is always red bull to scare the sleep away, but spending 85 bucks every day just to stay awake is not very economical for me unless my salary is a 6 digit number. So here I am, all sleepy and lazy at work, trying to avoid dropping on my desk, and hoping my boss doesn’t find out about it. Maybe I should just get a red bull.

This kind of feeling happened with me a while back, when I was working as well at my internship and slowly and gradually after pondering over this issue, I finally came over to the following conclusions:

I slept late, for no reason what so ever.

Solution: Have a healthy workout after work, which helps me go to bed at time, since I’m tired and not just lingering around in bed or in front of the TV. A good night’s sleep will not want for more sleep during the day. Thats my policy and works, try it.

  • Workout..keeps you awake during the day..also I eat 3 snacks like one fruit, some salted nuts and baby carrots with a gap of 1-1/2 hours other than my lunch. It helps keep my metabolism up and no sleepiness.

    Just my experience..hope it helps

I have a solution that has worked for me. It is also something recommended by health experts.

    1. Never skip breakfast. Coffee or tea does not count. Take a heavy breakfast, as heavy as an average lunch. It will give you a good start. You don’t feel drowsy in the morning even if you eat well. Plus it will keep you full for a little longer. Which brings me to my next point.

    2. Have a very light lunch. Preferably just some healthy snacks, like carrots, salad, etc. You can have tea if you want.

    3. Have your dinner early. Try to take your dinner as soon as you come home…say about 6:30 or 7pm (you’ll probably be very hungry). That will give your system time to digest before turning in for the night early. You can eat something very light if you get hungry before going to bed.

    4. Got to bed early. That’s right – you’re gonna have to cut down on the net surfing and blogging. Getting a good night sleep is very important for a productive day. I would suggest you sleep no later than 11pm so you can get a good 7 hours before you wake up at 6am for fajr and the rest of the day. If fajr is at around 5am, even 6 hours of sleep are good enough. You can take a one hour nap after fajr if you like.

    Hope this helps.

Same situation is with me these days, i feel quite drowsy right after my lunch. Workout needs a lot of attention from an individual but kidal’s solutions seems good :-]
