My last post was about the minimum amount of money one should be making to live well in Dubai.
Just today I met a young IT professional who works for a big company in Dubai and makes only 6000 Dirhams. He is not married and lives in a shared apartment, does not own a car and relies totally on public transportation (or friends who own a car).
I really felt sorry for him.
There are countless such examples of human resource exploitation in Dubai. There are companies who take advantage of people who live in third world countries. Due to huge difference in currency value, they come to Dubai at a seemingly attractive package because they convert it into their own currency, but they don’t realize what they are getting is not at all sufficient to survive in Dubai.
That I think is the root of the problem, unawareness. People come here without doing research and get stuck here. Employers take full advantage of it.
If you are looking for work in Dubai, please do yourself a favor and do some research on cost of living in Dubai. Here is another related post on my blog.
