I miss USA at times because over there one phone call took care of everything. Life was hassle free. One could concertrate on things that really matter because minor tasks like paying bills were taken care of in a manner so swift that you can take it for granted.
In Karachi you really have to be a sucker to get something done. First you make a phone call. You are told that you need to send the request by fax. If you don’t have access to a fax machine, well, tough luck! It’s the company policy that all such requests be faxed even if it results in major inconvenience to the customer. Then you send the fax and call to check if the fax was received. Then you call again after a while to check if your request was processed. If they didn’t receive the fax, or if they forgot to process it, you have to start over.
