The times when it takes forever to load a web page, or download a file, is when I miss the high speed internet connection the most.
When I was living the dorms of UB, I had 10 Mbps line in my room. Later it was upgraded to 100 Mbps, but I didn’t get to use it because I graduated by then. That’s the only thing I regret about graduating from college, not getting a chance to ride the information superhighwat at 100 Mbps. I get adrenaline rush just by thinking about it. Yeah baby!!
Even after that, I almost always had access to high speed internet. At UTD they offered free wifi in their university apartments. This couldn’t get any better than that. High speed internet, and that also free of cost, without tangling into cables. That means I could browse in the parking lot.
Then I returned to my hometown, Karachi, and it pretty much sucks here. Even the fastest connection available here is turtles compared to what I have used, rabbits, of course.
So when I learned about PTCL offering DSL connections, although not as fast as 10 Mbps, at slightly affordable rates, I couldn’t wait to sign up for it.
Seems like my forever wait of a decent internet connection in Karachi is about to be over.
