First 5 minutes of my workday

Ever since I moved to Dubai, my workday starts around 7 AM, usually a few minutes later because getting up in the morning is perhaps the biggest problem of my life. So although the following time line starts at 7, the actual time may vary depending on what time I actually wake up.

7:00 – Open my eyes to the alarm. Put the alarm on snooze and try to come up with a reason not to get up and go to work today.

7:01 – Fail to come up with any excuses so get up from the bed and step in the washroom, taking one last helpless look at my warm comfy bed and lovely wife sleeping on the other side of the bed.

7:02 – Get rid of the waste material from my body which can take a few minutes depending on what I ate last night. For this example let’s assume I just had plenty of fluids so it takes less than a minute.

7:03 – I don’t feel like shaving today so I would just brush my teeth.

7:04 – Start shower. I am one of those losers who take a lot of time in shower. I just can’t help it. Once I get into a hot relaxing shower I just don’t feel like getting out. I have to force myself every single time. On a normal day I would take at least 10 minutes in shower.

Well guess what? I was only supposed to tell about my first five minutes which are already over. How easy it is to waste time! But to give you a general idea, it takes me another 20 minutes to get dressed and stuff in some quick breakfast before kissing my wife goodbye and stepping out of my apartment to leave for work.

Maybe next time I will write about my first 5 (or 10, depending on my mood) minutes after reaching office.
