One of the reasons why it’s hard to survive in Dubai on low income is the abundance of riches around you.
No matter how frugal your lifestyle is, you got to spend money in Dubai.
When you go out and see brilliant things, like shiny new cars, latest fashion apparel, big screen plasma TVs, electronic gadgets and toys, it’s only natural to develop a desire to own some of that stuff. If you can’t hardly afford any of that it would become very depressing for you to live in Dubai. You are surrounded by the best the world has to offer but you cannot have any of that. It’s like a kid in the candy shop who cannot taste anything. You cannot go around with your eyes closed, can you?
That’s why it is very important to know how much money you need every month to enjoy a good life in Dubai. You have to keep track of every penny you spend, and plan every expense carefully, and reserve an emergency fund at the same time. It is very easy to get carried away and spend money in Dubai, only to find yourself buried in debt afterwards. Of course, the more money you make, the less likely you will be in that situation. But Dubai is capable of making anyone go broke. No matter who you are, be careful.
So the bottom line: Dubai is the place for the rich. If you don’t fall into that category then don’t come to Dubai.

Hi Umer, well obviously not everybody is same. The main things I would consider happiness and mental peace. Don’t you feel richest man when ever you hold your wife’s hands? Would you prefer look into her eyes than Plasma TV? Are you temporarily apart from your wife? (This is my father in law’s guess) Sorry we got nothing better to do in Karachi, but I think he is right.
So wouldn’t you agree having a companion in Dubai could make your life little bit easier?
Noori,
you are right, but surroundings do influence one. I can be as non materialistic as possible, but if you are surrounded by materialistic objects then you are bound to take some influence from it.
Hi, is dubai expensive compare to usa ..or is it more or less same .
annie, yes dubai is much more expensive than usa
Dubai, with all its glamour, may not be the best place to START a career, or spend your early few years there. Do you agree?
Raza, actually, I can’t agree with you. Dubai makes you tough and a good manager of finances and other things in life. When you are “well trained” in Dubai, you can move to any other place and live at peace. But then again, the basic requirement of having a good salary still applies which entry level professionals don’t get. So maybe you are right in a way.
