And so we have the result. As I was expecting, rather fearing, Pakistan lost the match. And rightly so. Such a batting performance won’t take them too far. So it’s better that they overcome their weaknesses before they reach the second round, if they reach the second round.
They didn’t bowl bad at all. Rao was impressive. The score of 241 is not a huge challenge. Any decent batting lineup can do it, but not if you wave the bat at every ball thrown at you, just like our batsmen did.
Pakistan really need to work on their batting. We win most matches due to the bowlers, and whenever our batting deceives us, we loose. This won’t work for World Cup. The batting and bowling should be independent of each other. We can’t rely only on bowling, or batting. We have to bowl good no matter how we do in batting, and we have to bat good no matter how the bowling has been.
The quicker our team learns this lesson, the better our chances to win the World Cup.
