The problem with split-type air conditioners is that you have to search for the remote control in order to operate it. That takes extra time (1 to 1o minutes, depending upon where you put the remote control and whether or not you remember it). In the good old days of window-type ACs, you just had to walk up to the AC and perform your desired operation. No hassles. Everybody wins.
