Buying a used car is an art. I got to learn a little of this art when I purchased a car today.
It was a long but very educational process. There are many things to watch for when looking for a used car to buy. Meter fraud, engine noises, repaired body, repainted structure, these are just few things to be careful about.
It’s very hard for a layman to identify these issues. The best thing is you take a mechanic who can detect these faults with you to inspect the used car. Once he approves only then you should negotiate the price.
For those who are curious, I just purchased a Toyota Vitz (aka Toyota Yaris in North America) after selling my Suzuki Alto last week.

Since its relatively a newer car … so less chances of wear and tear – but you never know
Always also look for where the car was driven before??
Hope it stays good!
umar very good topic you selected however I got disappointed that you didn’t elaborate much like, one shouldn’t buy used car from showrooms. You should elaborate this topic further since it would help those who have been planning to buy used cars but have no idea about it.
Which model did you buy and how much did it cost to you?
Congratz Umar Bhai, and ya what was the price tag and which model?
Masha’Allah. Enjoy the ride and drive safe.
Vitz is a good choice. Please write, if possible, about the model, transmission, color and price.
By the way, have you checked Chevy Joy? It falls almost in same price range as Vitz and its brand new, zero km ride.
sure folks… I am planning to blog more about my car buying experience… right now I am going to get the car handed over to me.
