After getting apartment lease contract the next step was to get DEWA service activated and trap myself deeper in the jungle of bills and expenses. I had no other choice. Without water and power I would be living in Karachi again.
So I took the plunge and went to DEWA office. There was some paperwork involved. I had to fill a form and attach copies of different documents. That was pretty smooth.
The real shock happened when I found out that the DEWA account number for my apartment was incorrect on the lease contract. What was otherwise going to take a few minutes would now take a couple of days.
I cursed my luck, called the real estate agent, gave him a piece of my mind, but of course that didn’t fix the problem. I had to go to him to get a new lease contract. So that evening I returned the lease contract with erroneous DEWA number, got the new contract the next day, and went back to DEWA office the next morning.
This time since all my paper work was in order, it really took five minutes. But I was quite annoyed by the hassle that I go through.
But now that everything is taken care of, it’s time to move in to my home in Dubai.
