5 changes I want to see in Pakistan to make it a better country

I know it’s wishful thinking, but that’s pretty much all we can do these days.

1. Improved law and order situation

If every citizen felt safe, and be assured that police will help them at the time of need instead of harrassing them, they will make wonders. They will do things unmatched by anyone in the western world.

2. Better medical facilities

If we know hospitals will treat patients for the sake of humanity and not money, it will suddenly change the way we think about doctors and the medical profession.

3. More educational opportunities

Universities do exist, but quality education lacks. If students coming out of colleges are better educated, they are bound to be more beneficial to the country.

4. Hassle free life

Every day tasks like paying the bills, getting a service (phone, power, gas) activated, or less common tasks like getting passport or driver’s license renewated should be a matter of minutes, not hours (or days).

5. Usable public transport system

Unless there is public transport system that people would ditch their cars to use, traffic problems will continue to worsen.

Any other suggestions?

You missed the JUDICIARY. If there is no judiciary who will provide the necessary check on the executive and the legislature. This should be foremost on your list. If there is no justice, how will there be law and order, safety and all that you are talking about. Can you explain?

  • shaz, the first point covers that… the ‘order’ part in law and order means a system should be there to make sure things are in order, be it police or courts, as long as common people are safe and carefree they wouldn’t really care how it is implemented.
